Job Summary
We are looking for an experienced Sourcing & Purchase Manager – Electronics to lead end-to-end sourcing, costing, procurement, and vendor development activities for electronic components, PCBAs, wiring harnesses, and related electrical/electronic assemblies.
The role will support both New Product Development (NPD) and mass-production requirements and will be responsible for supplier identification, RFQ management, techno-commercial evaluation, costing, negotiations, localization, supplier development, component availability, risk management, and timely procurement.
The ideal candidate should have a strong technical understanding of electronic components along with proven hands-on experience in Sourcing, Costing, and Vendor Development.
Key Responsibilities
1. Strategic Sourcing & Procurement
- Lead end-to-end sourcing and procurement of electronic and electrical components.
- Source categories including PCB, PCBA, ICs, semiconductors, microcontrollers, sensors, connectors, wiring harnesses, modules, displays, passive components, active components, and electronic assemblies.
- Identify and develop suitable domestic and international suppliers.
- Manage RFIs, RFPs, RFQs, supplier quotations, comparisons, techno-commercial evaluations, and supplier finalization.
- Negotiate pricing, MOQ, lead time, payment terms, tooling cost, commercial terms, and supply agreements.
- Ensure timely availability of components for prototype, NPD, pilot, and mass-production requirements.
- Develop alternate suppliers for critical, high-risk, and single-source components.
- Monitor component availability, market trends, lead times, and supply-chain risks.
2. Costing & Cost Optimization
- Perform detailed BOM costing and supplier quotation analysis.
- Conduct cost breakdown analysis, price benchmarking, and should-cost assessment.
- Identify opportunities for cost reduction across electronic and electrical components.
- Drive cost-saving initiatives through:
- Alternate sourcing
- Localization
- Value engineering
- Commercial negotiations
- Supplier competition
- Component substitution
- Track historical pricing and evaluate supplier price revisions.
- Work with Engineering teams on cost-effective component selection.
- Support functional cost analysis during product development.
- Monitor and report sourcing savings and cost-reduction initiatives.
3. Vendor Development & Supplier Management
- Identify, evaluate, qualify, onboard, and develop suppliers and EMS partners.
- Conduct supplier capability assessments covering:
- Manufacturing capability
- Quality systems
- Technical capability
- Capacity
- Delivery performance
- Financial stability
- Commercial competitiveness
- Develop alternate vendors for critical components.
- Drive localization and supplier-development initiatives.
- Track supplier performance based on Quality, Cost, Delivery, and Service.
- Support supplier audits in coordination with Quality and Engineering teams.
- Drive supplier improvement plans and closure of supplier-related issues.
- Manage supplier escalations related to cost, delivery, quality, shortages, and production continuity.
- Maintain long-term supplier relationships while ensuring commercial and operational accountability.
4. Electronics & Component Sourcing
The role will include sourcing and management of:
- PCB and PCBA
- Semiconductor components
- ICs and microcontrollers
- Sensors
- Connectors
- Wiring harnesses
- Displays
- BLE / Wi-Fi / Cellular modules
- Passive and active components
- Controllers
- Electrical and electronic assemblies
The candidate will also:
- Evaluate alternate components in coordination with Engineering.
- Support component selection based on cost, availability, lifecycle, quality, and manufacturability.
- Identify and mitigate component shortage risks.
- Manage risks related to EOL, PCN, and component obsolescence.
- Work with Engineering teams to promote technically suitable and commercially competitive components.
5. NPD & Engineering Support
- Work closely with Engineering and NPI teams during new-product development.
- Review BOMs, specifications, component datasheets, technical drawings, Gerber files, and manufacturing packages.
- Support supplier selection during prototype and development stages.
- Participate in Design for Manufacturability discussions with suppliers and EMS partners.
- Evaluate supplier quotations from technical and commercial perspectives.
- Support prototype, validation, pilot-production, and mass-production requirements.
- Coordinate alternate component development and validation.
- Support Engineering Change Requests and component-change implementation from a sourcing perspective.
6. Purchase & Supply Planning
- Coordinate procurement requirements based on production plans, forecasts, and inventory levels.
- Ensure purchase orders are released accurately and on time.
- Monitor supplier order confirmation, production status, dispatch schedules, and delivery commitments.
- Follow up with suppliers to ensure timely material availability.
- Coordinate with Planning, Stores, Production, Quality, and Finance teams.
- Support inventory optimization while minimizing shortages, excess inventory, and obsolete stock.
- Track supplier lead times and proactively address supply constraints.
- Manage urgent sourcing requirements to avoid production disruption.
7. Documentation & Compliance
- Maintain RFQ records, supplier quotations, comparison sheets, price history, agreements, and purchase records.
- Maintain proper supplier and sourcing documentation.
- Ensure suppliers comply with applicable requirements such as:
- RoHS
- REACH
- EOL notifications
- PCN requirements
- Coordinate execution of supplier agreements, NDAs, SOWs, and commercial documents.
- Maintain accurate BOM and sourcing data in relevant systems.
- Experience with SiliconExpert, IHS Markit, Altium 365, SourceEngine, ERP systems, or similar platforms will be an advantage.
8. Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with Engineering, NPI, Quality, Production, Planning, Finance, Stores, and Supply Chain teams.
- Coordinate with EMS partners and component suppliers for smooth execution of sourcing and production requirements.
- Communicate sourcing status, cost impact, supplier risks, shortages, and action plans to stakeholders.

Mandatory Technical Competencies
The candidate must have strong hands-on experience in all three areas: Sourcing, Costing, and Vendor Development.
- Strong hands-on experience in electronics sourcing and procurement.
- Strong experience in BOM costing, should-cost analysis, price benchmarking, and cost breakdown analysis.
- Proven experience in vendor identification, evaluation, onboarding, development, and performance management.
- Strong understanding of PCB, PCBA, electronic components, wiring harnesses, connectors, sensors, and electrical assemblies.
- Ability to read and understand BOMs, datasheets, PCB-related documentation, technical drawings, and supplier quotations.
- Strong understanding of RFQ, RFP, supplier evaluation, techno-commercial comparison, and supplier finalization.
- Strong commercial negotiation skills.
- Experience in alternate supplier development and localization.

Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electronics, Electrical, Electronics & Communication Engineering, or a related discipline.
- 5–8 years of relevant experience in electronics sourcing, purchase, procurement, or supply-chain management.
- Mandatory hands-on experience in Sourcing, Costing, and Vendor Development.
- Strong experience sourcing PCB, PCBA, electronic components, wiring harnesses, connectors, sensors, and/or electrical/electronic assemblies.
- Strong experience in BOM costing, supplier quotation analysis, should-costing, price benchmarking, and commercial negotiations.
- Proven experience in supplier identification, evaluation, qualification, onboarding, and development.
- Experience in alternate vendor development and localization.
- Experience working with EMS partners, component manufacturers, authorized distributors, and suppliers.
- Experience supporting both NPD and mass-production requirements.
